More Tips for Being a “Green” Mom
One of the things I discovered in over three years of trying to get pregnant was how the toxicity of certain products and the environment can affect our bodies. Once I finally got “knocked up,” I wanted to make sure my baby stayed healthy. I learned that often times the most toxic room in the house is the nursery (I know — I was surprised as well!) This is because EVERYTHING new, from the paints and varnish to the glues and plastic, emits fumes called VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). These fill the air you and your baby breathe with toxins. Tests have revealed an astounding amount of toxic chemicals in young children’s blood. We can’t have that now, can we?
Mothers, say it with me: NOT in Our Babies’ Rooms!
So, here are a few things I did to build a “Non-Toxic/Green” nursery. I know that if you’re like me when I was pregnant, then you are waddling around, have a zillion things to do, your back and feet are killing you and it’s hard for you to think straight. But just do the best you can!
